Their advice for towing a trailer over the Sierras, "When coming up the mountain, especially towing a load, you need to pull the shift lever into Drive, or perhaps even one of the lower gears. If you leave it in Overdrive, the tranny keeps trying to shift back and forth, and that churns up the fluid, and it overheats. When it overheats, it blows out of the overflow valve at the top of the tranny. Makes a big mess, but if you just let it cool down a bit and top it off with new fluid, you'll be OK. But shift down to Drive when coming up the mountain - don't leave it in Overdrive." Amen!
